Umniya (Umi) Gabbani, LGPC

Hello and welcome!

My name is Umniya, but you can call me Umi!

I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of Maryland and earned my Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Towson University. I previously worked in a private practice setting at Linganore Counseling and Wellness in Fredrick, Maryland. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and families by providing a warm and non-judgmental space to explore life’s challenges. I am committed to bringing a compassionate, supportive, holistic, and culturally sensitive approach to help clients process life experiences and maximize their potential. I believe in developing a strong therapeutic relationship centered on trust, empathy, and self-empowerment. I prioritize a collaborative and eclectic approach to ensure clients achieve personal growth and self-awareness and gain insight into their problems. I recognize the uniqueness of each client and strive to utilize various therapeutic approaches to ensure that my style is consistent with the goals and preferences of each individual client.

I have experience working with clients with issues including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Body image
  • Disruptive Behaviors
  • Self-esteem
  • Trauma

I have experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Therapy, elements of Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), with an overall Person-Centered approach. To support change, my therapeutic goal is to help clients and families identify and resolve conflict areas to initiate positive and lasting change.

I look forward to supporting you on this journey toward becoming your best self!
