Hi there! I’m Sam, and I am so glad you are here.
A little bit about me- I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Human Development from the University of Maryland (go Terps!) and went on to earn my Master’s in Social Work with emphasis on Clinical Practice from Columbia University. I have spent the last 7 years as a School Social Worker providing counseling and supporting students’ social and emotional well-being. Through my experience, I have developed a love for partnering with adolescents and young adults through their educational journeys, yet I recognize that being a student is only one aspect of their identity. In order to become your best self, we must look at the whole self, and I value supporting my clients towards healing and overall wellness through a holistic approach.
In this work, I believe that it’s all about relationships. I prioritize bringing my most authentic self to create a safe and welcoming environment where we can develop a strong foundation to achieve your goals. While we may set big picture goals in our time together, I believe that there is no win too small to celebrate and always emphasize progress over perfection.
I have extensive experience supporting clients with issues related to grief and loss, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD and other learning difficulties, general stress management, and adjusting through transitions or other life changes. I am a certified Grief & Trauma Therapist and draw techniques from many other approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness practices, Solution-focused Therapy, Play Therapy, and other expressive modalities. I am committed to working from a strengths-based perspective with you at the forefront and encourage lots of communication and collaboration.
